Unclog Your Toilet

Sometimes there's just no way to avoid a clogged toilet.  If you want to take on the job rather than calling your trusted local plumbers, then make sure you know where to start.

Grab The Plunger

A plunger is a bathroom necessity for any type of toilet.  This handy little tool can save you from an overflown toilet and a flooded bathroom. When taking the plunge, make sure the plunger completely covers the drain for a tight seal and maximum pressure (goggles are optional). Once the plunger is in the right position, give three strong pumps to the drain without lifting the plunger off the drain. If it's done correctly, you'll hear the magical noise of the toilet flushing and the water level should decrease.

Grab Some Baking Soda

Before grabbing the baking soda, you want to bring a large pot of water to a boil.  Once the bubbles are poppin, let is cool for a few minutes.  While the pot of water is cooling, add a cup of baking soda and two cups of vinegar to the toilet bowl. Take your cool pot of water and pour it into the toilet bowl making a nice waterfall. Let the mix do it's work on the toilet and check the toilet after a few hours.

Use A Snake

No, not a real snake, a drain snake.  If you don't have one of these you can rent or buy one from any hardware supply store. Take the flexible end of the snake and run it through the drain until you hit the clog. Once you've hit the clog you'll want to twist the snake handle to dislodge the clog. If the snake can pass smoothly through the drain, then you know you did the job.

Be careful when pulling the snake out of the water.  Splatter may occur when working too quickly, and we wouldn't want that to happen.

Call A Pro

If you would rather have someone else do the dirty work, then give your local plumbers in Salinas a phone call. Leave the work to the professionals so you can avoid the headaches!
